Let's talk THE MET GALA!

Updated: Apr 29

The Met Gala takes place on the first Monday of May, and if you're anything like me, you excitedly await this day every year. This annual fundraising event is held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City and is every fashion lover's dream to attend. The 2022 Met Gala was themed Gilded Glamour, and guests offered many stunning interpretations of the dress code, so let's take a look at some highlights from the night!

One of my favorite looks was done by Hailey Bieber. Hailey's elegant Saint Laurent dress perfectly aligns with the theme and the event itself, making her look so effortlessly beautiful. The white feathers and high neck are incredible. I'm so glad Hailey is finally being dressed to match her natural beauty.

For the Kardashians/Jenners, this was the first time that all of the ladies attended the MET together, and some of them delivered amazingly. Starting off with Khloe Kardashian, she wore a floor-length, sheer gold Moschino dress styled with long black gloves, which truly elevated this look beyond its simplicity. As for Kendall Jenner, she takes one of the best skirts of the night, in my opinion. Kendall killed the long, black, poofy Prada skirt look beautifully, and the mesh top really modernizes and challenges the theme, which I admire. I wasn't really a fan of the bleached eyebrows on her, though. Apropos of Kylie Jenner, I didn't really like her athletic look, but I did like the poofy white skirt. I just think these two styles didn't pair well, and she almost looked like a bride. Kris Jenner looked like a sister at the Met, channeling her inner Jackie O and hitting all the marks with her stunning one-shoulder, flowy, light yellow gown. The white glove and hairdo complete this look perfectly. Saving the best for last, Kim Kardashian absolutely blew me away wearing the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing to President John F. Kennedy, "Happy Birthday". This piece of fashion history is a gorgeous skintight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals by costumier Jean Louis. Kim said she had to lose 16 lbs before the event to fit into the dress properly, and she's even rocking platinum blonde hair just like Marilyn.

Like Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, this was also Maude Apatow's first Met Gala, and she killed it. When I first saw Maude's look, I instantly fell in love with it because of how beautifully it matches the theme and her. Maude wore stunning jewelry from Cartier to complement her off-the-shoulder dress by Miu Miu. I love the hairstyle as well, very old-fashioned and on point!

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are one of my fave celebrity couples, and if there's one person who understood the assignment of this year's Met Gala, it's Blake. Blake made quite a statement for her return to the Met in a custom copper Versace dress with a huge bow on the hip. Following the grand unveiling, Blake's dress changed from its original color to a gorgeous green. What makes Blake's dress even more special, however, is the inspiration behind it. The gown itself symbolizes the Statue of Liberty's oxidation, from its original copper to its current much greener shade. These cohosts truly know what they are doing when it comes to fashion!

(Blake even matches her looks to the carpet itself every year!)

Another amazing dress reveal was displayed by one of my all-time favorite celebrities and idols, Sydney Sweeney. Sydney is a Tory Burch Brand Ambassador, and they dressed her in a custom coreseted mini dress with a removable ball skirt in ivory taffeta and a glitter tulle overlay, and it looked A-ma-zing! Love that this look truly complements Sydney herself, plus this was also her first Met!

Although most of the men who attend the Met do wear suits, I have to give credit where it is due... Jacob Elordi looked dashing as ever in his custom Burberry wool suit, hand-embroidered with crystal embellishments in the Equestrian Knight Design, with a silk tie and patent leather shoes.

Shawn Mendes also had a unique take on the typical suit, wearing an upcycled, custom Tommy Hilfiger look. While some were saying this outfit resembled Doctor Strange, I think it is a very classical piece that embodies the theme nicely.

And to end tonight's post, Hugh Jackman looked straight off the set of The Greatest Showman in his stunning Tom Ford suit. I love the old-fashioned style of this suit that still looks modern.
